Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've updated you on my whole epilepsy story- the last time I updated you I was telling you when it got bad back in 2013 when I broke my jaw (you can read that here)- the reason I left it there was pretty much because I'd been doing really well on the seizure front.

My last seizure was October 26th 2014 after a heavy night of drinking and not sleeping- which explained the seizure. I also felt really unwell (not just hungover) the following day and it was the only time I'd felt a seizure coming on. Luckily it wasn't that bad and I didn't have to go to hospital.

Unfortunately 23 days before I was going to be 1 year seizure free (October 3rd 2015) after a really nice quiet night out with my friends to Bella Italia for a really nice meal, I suddenly in the early hours of the morning had a seizure. I cannot tell you what bought it on, I don't think I was stressed, I wasn't tired because I was already asleep? I had 2 tiny shots of a weird fruit liquor which had little to none alcohol in so I really don't know what caused it.

I went to sleep rather early for me, to then wake up covered in sick with paramedics in my room. I then blacked back out again until I woke up in a hospital bed.

I'm not going to pretend that this hasn't upset me because it has. I was so close to being 1 year seizure free, which meant I would of been able to apply for my provisional licence- I now can't so I'll be sticking to public transport for the next year, I now also have people watching me like hawks again- it's weird because I felt that I'd just got my independence back again.

I can't complain though because so many people have this awful condition so much worse than me. If you've read this today I'd love so much for you to have a look on Young Epilepsy & Epilepsy Action websites, donate if you feel like it, just read and be aware of what to do if you ever see anyone have a seizure- because there's so many people living with this in silence, there are also more than one type of seizure, just be aware. I think if we can share the message of what to do if someone has a tonic clonic seizure (the one you're all thinking of) and learn a little about the different types of seizures.
