Pisa Day 1

Sunday, 30 August 2015

So last week I took Hayden to Pisa for a few days for an early 21st birthday present. We had literally the most amazing time and I'm so in love with this country and I just want to go right back! This is going to be a very photo heavy post I'm afraid..

We flew with RyanAir from Stansted and it was a pretty good flight, we were sat in exit seats so our leg room was perfect! We both also managed a little nap on during the flight which was a bonus because we'd been up since 3.30am...

Once we'd managed to find our hotel (Hotel La Pace) which is an amazing hotel by the way, it's right by the train and bus station, a 15 minute walk from The Leaning Tower and other tourist attractions. Everything in the hotel was so typically Tuscan and cute, the bed could probably do with an upgrade but it's cool. The staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed and I would so stay there again in the future!

Our first stop was this adorable cafe in between our hotel and the train station- I knew we needed to have pizza and this entire pizza which we split was only €5 which is ridicliously good! We then took a stroll towards the Leaning Tower and found some beautiful places throughout our walk.

Pisa basically has one street completely filled with shops and the first one I happened to see was Sephora, I knew I needed to pick something up as I didn't when I was in Italy in February, Then there was this beautiful H&M which had been restored into this modern looking shop but still had the original wall paintings and ceilings. There was then a small Kiko visit which I couldn't resist because it's one of the best places on earth okay.

Once we got to the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli we turned into full tourists and I feel no shame in that at all, it was so much fun!

For our evening meal we went to one of the restaurants our hotel recommended, it was just across the street and they don't overcharge tourists, it felt like a proper typical Tuscan restaurant- we had spaghetti carbonara which was beyond amazing! When we got back to the hotel I literally crashed- it was only like 9.30pm but I'd been up for way too many hours...

Top 5 Tips for bloggers

Friday, 28 August 2015

I've been blogging for just over a year now but only in the past few months have I felt that I have advice to give to other/new bloggers.

1) Join twitter chats.
This is literally how I gained my twitter friends, followers, discovered new blogs. Literally it's the easiest way to do all of the above and there is at least one chat every day Becky from Becky Bedbug did a post telling you what chats happen at what time, which is so handy because I'm always forgetting the times!

2) Write what you wanna write about.
I can tell when I'm forcing a post because I just want the whole process of photographing/editing/writing/promoting to be over- and I never want to feel like that about a post. If you want to write about palm tree bed sheets but everyone else is writing about the newest product to be released you go and write about those palm tree bed sheets because I would read that over 4904509 reviews of the same product which all tell me the same thing.

3)Buffer is your bestfriend.
I honestly cannot remember what I did with myself before I scheduled my tweets. I get most of my views from twitter, and the tweets that are promoting that post have probably been scheduled weeks in advance. I do not have time to be talking about my latest post every hour when I could be actually talking to other bloggers.
Buffer is very easy to use, you simply write out your tweet, add an image I highly recommend adding an image when promoting your blog post because it's way more eye catching. Then schedule your date/time.

4) Don't think you need a DLSR to have good photography.
I can't afford a decent camera and I doubt I will be able to for quite a while so I'm just using what I've got- which is an iPhone 5 and I get more compliments now on my photos than I did when I was using a little point and shoot camera. I believe it's all about the editing, which brings me onto my next point..

5) Edit your photos
Even if you think they look good, they will look 10x better just by upping the brightness and sharpness. On the same note if you don't have photoshop don't stress, picmonkey is amazing and free. If you're an apple user you can download Photoshop for your phone for free!!! You can buy the upgrade and have some extras but I personally do perfect with the completely free version!

Dr Bronner's Magic Soap

Wednesday, 26 August 2015

As you may have seen in my #NRWSummer Goodybag post (if you haven't I highly suggest you check it out) I received this sample sized bottle of the Dr Bronner's Magic Soap in Hemp Rose. I'd never heard of this brand before and I have no idea why because they're fab?!

I'd seen a few bloggers wash their makeup brushes with this soap so I decided I'd try this product instead of my usual baby shampoo. If you want to read how I do it I did a post not that long ago so check that out here

To start with I love how the product just drops out of the bottle, it's so convenient because it gives you just enough product and you don't end up wasting any. It also smells absolutely amazing- the only thing with when I washed my brushes with baby shampoo they smelt horrible after and it took time/more product on them (gross) for them to smell alright again.

There was one thing I didn't like and that was the fact it seemed to take like 4/5 separate deep cleans for the more dense brushes to actually get clean and that took so much time, with the baby shampoo it literally took 2 times for me to get even my foundation brushes sparkling again!

Seeing as it is actually a soap first off and not a brush cleaner I thought I'd tell you what I think of it as a soap. It is fair trade, organic- everything I'm starting to become more aware of with brands so I love that. It lathers up to an insane amount with just one drop of the product- no joke. When I first used it I was shocked at how fast it lathered up!

My sister used the Almond scented one and she loves it and says she comes out of the bath smelling like a cherry bakewell (who doesn't wanna smell like cake?) this soap is also perfect for her as she's got very sensitive skin and is allergic to practically everything- but not this!

Maybelline Haul 2015

Thursday, 20 August 2015

Today I went into Superdrug for one innocent buy (a foundation for my sister) and oh how wrong I was, thinking I could go in there for one thing.. Pretty much all of the stands in there are having a 3 for 2 offer on at the moment so if you need another excuse to go shopping, here's your chance- when having a browse around I realised that Maybelline had most of what I wanted.

I bought this foundation when it first came out and loved it, and since summer is practically over I decided to leave my trusty Bourjois Healthy Mix and go back to this one. It is so lightweight on my skin and I can build my coverage so easily I love it! The only thing I don't love is the glass bottle- a nightmare for all the travelling I have coming in the next few weeks! And the glass dropper- I wish the stick thing(?) was plastic because last time it must of broke a little bit and scratched my face a little bit- but its cool. If you haven't tried this foundation yet I highly recommend it!

This is another repurchase, I again bought this when it was first released and was obsessed with it. I'm not really a mascara girl and will usually just pick up the first one I see and it'll do the job but this mascara does wonderful things to my lashes. It is a dupe for Benefit's Roller Lash and I actually think it's better- plus there's quite a big price difference so that's' always a bonus. The packaging has changed slightly and I'm not entirely sure why? I actually wanted to pick the waterproof version up as I have never used a waterproof mascara before *gasps* but they didn't have it so I just got the normal one.

I have been needing to pick up a Colour Tattoo for God knows how long- I kept looking and could never find a colour I wanted, but because of the 3 for 2 deal I knew I needed to pick something and this was the first thing I saw. I have heard such amazing things about these so I'm so excited to try it! This is going to be perfect for a base colour, or for when I want just a simple eye look.

#NRWSummer Goodybag

Thursday, 13 August 2015

If you read about the second Norwich Bloggers event here (if you haven't go and read that) you will know we managed to put together some pretty mamouth goody bags... I say we I really mean Hannah and Courteney because they did such an amazing job I'm literally in awe at what they managed to get!

Salcura sent us their brand new BioSkin full set in full size bottles which is beyond incredible and I am SO excited to try all of these and I will certainly be reviewing these at some point.

Dermav10 sent us some boxes filled with these products (I will admit I wasn't saying they were amazing boxes when I was having to put 25 together.. it took time and a lot of my patience, I'm very surprised they all managed to stay put together and I didn't break any which is good! They sent us hand and nail cream, dry skin body lotion, multi radiance cream, rescue cream for scars and stretch marks, body butter and day cream- again all full sizes! I'm just in awe of how much we got! I again will choose a few of these products and review them!

Gotta love when you get food in there! I'm so obsessed with Metcalfe's skinny popcorn- especially the sweet 'n salt, but I'm very intrigued by the honey bee flavour so I'm hoping that'll taste good too! Then we've got Kettles- a trusted local crisp brand but we've got them in crispy bacon and maple syrup? Literally as soon as I've finished writing this post I am SO going to eat these- I absolutely love bacon flavoured crisps so I'm sure I'm going to love these!

I have seen this Curaprox whitening toothpaste all over other blogger the past month and was so happy when I saw it! I've seen amazing results from this, so I'm so excited to do a full review on this and hopefully by the end of it I'll have bright white teeth!

I haven't looked in the Paul Mitchell pack yet but I think it's shampoo and conditioner which shall be wonderful because I just love their products! Then we've got some dry shampoo from Phil Smith- you literally cannot go wrong with dry shampoo ever! Next is some Sea Kelp Shampoo and Natural Creme from Jason- I haven't heard of this brand before so I'll definitely keep you updated on what I think!

Bee Good sent us this cream cleanser and adorable mini muslin cloth which excites me because I love trying new skincare products and my Superdrug Cleanser has nearly run out so it couldn't have come at a better time!

Just Essentials were kind enough to give us these amazing products- the lashes I ended up with are in fact the ones I have worn for the past 3/4 years- which is pretty cool, I was rather happy about that. I have also tried their nail varnish before and loved it and this orange is a perfect summer colour so I'm excited to use it again. The blue contact lenses are what I'm most excited about- I've never worn contacts and I'm a little scared about the whole process to be quite honest but I think it'd be cool to be blue eyed for a day right?

Angelica Nails have been so amazing throughout this process, they've been promoting us pretty much every day since it was announced we were working together and even stuck little #NRWSummer stickers on the bottom of the nail varnishes which is so cute! I always need a new kind of red whether it's lipstick or nail varnish so I'm so excited to try this! Crabtree & Evelyn sent this beautiful deep orange with small glitter reflects in and I am looking forward to trying it because I've never used anything from them before and the colour is insane and right up my street so keep your eyes peeled for some nails of the day posts on my instagram...

Stargazer went above and beyond for us and sent so much stuff out! I got 2 lipsticks- one is a deep pink with some purple in, and the other is black- which would usually scare me but I'm just thinking about Halloween and what cool looks I can create! There's then a bright Barbie pink lip stain which I'm excited about and a food flavoured gloss? I'm not entirely sure what food flavour it is but I'll give it a go!

Hello products sent us breath sprays and I got the pink grapefruit flavour, I'm not sure how I'll get on with this because I don't really like grapefruit but I'm all about ways to keep my breath smelling fresh. Real Techniques (squeals) sent us some brushes- I got this big powder brush which I haven't got which is a total bonus! Then Dr Bronner sent this all natural organic soap which again I'm excited about because I've never used anything from them before.

I got this LipGlam product which at first glance just looks like your everyday lip balm but no.. it's so much more than that, its a eye primer, brow gel, cuticle softener, hand cream and so much more! I have used this as a lip balm so far and my lips feel so nourished already- I think this is going to be my travelling and winter partner in crime!

Timeless Truth gave us some masks, I've never heard of this brand and I love face makes so I'm hoping I like this one so I can make some sneaky purchases in the future...

I love Neal & Wolf! At the first Norwich Bloggers event we got some shampoo and conditioner which I fell in love with and luckily enough we got some more! The smell of these are simply insane so I suggest you try them out! I also got some hair oil from them- I've been looking at ways to protect my hair for a while now and I'm hoping this does something good because my hair is very straw like at the moment (bleach problems) On that note Neal and Wolf have been incredibly generous and have given my readers 15% discount AND free shipping- the code is NBM0815, it will expire on 30/09/2015 so get a go at that!

Fashion Fair is a beauty brand I found through Courteney's blog and I was so happy to see them in our bags- this Barbie pink is completely me and I don't think I have quite enough lipsticks...

From Superdrug I got their summer magazine and B. Prepared primer which I'm really happy to have because I haven't tried anything from the B. range and you can't go wrong with a primer!

I also got some leaflets and discount codes from a few brands.

These bad boys are the straighteners I won in the tombola and just take in how beautiful they are!!! They're from Corioliss so I'm looking forward to using them!
