Cuba Revolution Norwich New Menu Launch

Sunday, 28 June 2015

So on Thursday I was invited to try Cuba Revolutions new Cuban menu, now I've never been before but I've always heard such good reviews and I'm meant to be going next week with all my college girls so it was nice to have a little try before I went again!

When I arrived (like 10 minutes late ugh) I was greeted by Andreas who was amazing! I got seated and got myself a name badge whilst chatting to the other guests, Andreas then bought me a very nice Mojito it was amazing! Andreas then explained about the new nibbles that have been bought out- sweet banana chips, pork scratchings and spicy mixed nuts. He was saying the reason those 3 have been chosen is because they've got that perfect sweet/savoury/spicy mix that you need- I will say those pork scratchings were the best I have ever had.. They didn't have that weird foamy bit you sometimes get in packet ones? (if you know what I mean?) And there was sweetcorn in the spicy mixed nuts pot and they tasted just like nachos!

The wonderfully moustached chef then came out to show us how to make the perfect burrito.. he made it look so bloody easy! Then it was time for a small competition between the 8 of us on who could make the best burrito! I have to say for my first try I think I did a pretty good job.. although I didn't win (the amazing Hannah's boyfriend did! His was pretty good though!)

Once everyone had made their burritos they were taken away from the tables to be replaced with what I can only describe as the best tapas selection ever, the food was coming out non-stop for a good 10 minutes! We got to try pretty much all of the new menu?! I'll list what we had and hopefully you'll be able to guess what was what from the photos!

-Albondiga Picante (basically a giant meatball with spicy tomato sauce and sour cream, this was abit too spicy for my liking I could only handle one mouthfull)

-Cajun Cream Mushrooms (oh lord these were amazing, I'm such a lover of mushrooms and these tasted insane!)

-Nachos del Sol (oh yes nachos... I have been craving nachos for weeks.. damme you slimming world ((also this was a massive cheat day)) and when these bad boys came out wow.. they were topped with homemade Roquito and Manchego cheese sauce, black beans, mango and guacamole- their guacamole was the best I have ever tasted no joke.. Andreas was saying how it's all made by hand, the chefs squeeze the avacados to get the right texture, then add fresh chillies and some lime and it's just so heavenly and amazing!)

-Roasted Chorizo (They cut it into wedges almost so you get more per mouthful and its glazed in a rich red wine and honey sauce- the sauce alone was beautiful)

-Honey Roasted Veg (Roasted courgettes, carrots, peppers and sweet potato- lets be honest all roasted vegtables are insane but adding the honey always makes them that bit better)

-Serrano Ham Bruschetta (When this came out I was just taken back to Florence, I literally ate that for lunch at a food market! It tasted just as good and you can't go wrong with it!)

-Ropa Vieja Tacos (these were mini lamb tacos with rum mayo and sweet slaw and as soon as I saw these I had to pick one up! They were so cute I just couldn't resist)

Then this entire chicken was bought out with sweet potato fries (so good) mojito battered onion rings (such a classic and the batter made it unique) house rice and cuban salad. All of that so a whole chicken, plus 4 sides is just £20! That is cheaper than what your cheeky nandos might be and I can say right now that it tastes 100% better and you can essentially feed 4 people for £5 per person which is insane.

The surprises didn't end there oh my.. Andreas then took us to the bar where there were a trio of desserts ready for us to demolish, there were Strawberry and Mango Empanadas, I didn't try any because there were none left by the time I was ready for one! Then there were Chocolate Rum Truffles, I had half a bite and it was so rich, it tasted absolutely amazing but was just too much especially after what I'd just eaten. Then there was Churros with Rum and Caramel sauce holy moly they tasted amazing, so could of eaten and entire pot of those! Lastly to cleanse the palette there was a shot of a Strawberry Daiquiri- I'm all about a good daiquiri and this actually did cleanse my palette!

The final surprise was cocktail making! Andreas picked 4 cocktails for four of us to make (I can't remember all of them but they all tasted good) I made a DarkNStormy- which is basically crushed ice, dark rum  and ginger beer- it tasted absolutely amazing! I don't usually like dark rum or ginger beer but it was amazing?!

I had such a lovely time trying the new menu and I'm so 100% going back (most likely next week) it's so affordable, amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing staff- I literally can't fault the place! There is something for everyone! I'd like to thank Andreas and the rest of the lovely staff for inviting me it was amazing! So if you're in Norwich you know where to head to next!

REVIEW: Nip and Fab Bee Sting Deluxe Souffle

Friday, 26 June 2015

I received this goodie at the Cosmo Summer Party (read about it here) I've been wanting to try some Nip and Fab products out for a while but never really known how I'd like it and they're not the cheapest of products so I've just held out, but I am so pleased I've gotten the chance to use this as it's amazing!!

When I first read it had bee venom in I have to say I was a little weirded out and slightly confused then I remembered that I've read about people who inject venom into their body to keep looking young (now that is weird)

A super rich, intensively moisturising body cream with bee venom to help plump and firm for healthy and more youthful looking skin with improved elasticity.
Bee venom helps plump and firm the appearance of the skin,
Honey hydrates and softens
Shea butter restores moisture and improves elasticity.

-Smells absolutely amazing
-Very moisturising
-Skin does feel firmer after one use and I can feel the difference in my skin after only 2 weeks of use

-Skin tingles when using it (it is bearable but slightly weird)
-Rather thick formula, however it does sink in reasonably well.

Would I repurchase this? 100%! I've already been recommended the bee sting face mask so keep your eyes peeled for a review of that soon...

Blogging Goals

Wednesday, 24 June 2015

So in April/May sorta time I decided I wasn't happy with my blog, the way it looked and the content I was giving out. I made it my mission to create some goals and hit them!

1) Buy a layout that I like that makes my blog look more professional and less like a free template from Blogger- DONE

2) Improve my photos, whenever I look back at my photos from even December I cringe, my point and shoot camera wasn't doing a good job and I wasn't editing them at all. Then I discovered PicMonkey and started editing my photos on there, they still weren't great and my camera was going downhill so I started using my iPhone and they did start to look better- I finally became happy with them this month when I started using the photoshop app.. Oh my I'm so obsessed with my photos now! I know I'm just going to keep learning new tips and tricks but for the moment I'm pretty happy with them! DONE

3) Get better at SEO.. Admitadly I haven't really bothered with this yet.. I've read a lot of really good posts on how to improve but I'm still abit clueless.. I think I need to be in the right mindset to fully understand and take on board what people are saying about it..

4) Post more often, I was going through stages of posting 3 times a week and then hiding away and only posting once a month? So I've made it my mission to create content for 3 days a week and I will say that throughout June I have done amazingly on this and this was whilst I was still at college and work so hopefully now I have free time this will continue! DONE

5) Create a schedule and stick to it, I now have a spreadsheet with all my posts in what state they are whether it's fully ready and just waiting to be posted or just at the initial idea stage. I have found it so much easier to stick to what I want to and see exactly what stage I am with a post! DONE

6) Buy a domain, this is something I haven't done yet but I've looked into it, I've seen the name I want, I know how much it will be, I just need to do it! Hopefully I will have done this by the end of June!

Let me know what your blogging goals are xo

Review: Argan Oil hair treatment

Monday, 22 June 2015

So my mum picked this up the other day in Tesco's because she thought it would be really good for the knots in her hair- unfortunately she didn't realise it was a hair oil! But luckily for me it meant a new product for me to try.

I'm really bad with my hair care, as in I just shampoo and condition, which is bad considering I have bleached hair and probably should take better care of it.. Anyway I thought I'd test it and see what I thought.

Here's what it claims- Intensive hydrating treatment, repairs and rejuvenates, leaving hair shiny, smooth and healthy.

It says to towel dry hair and apply 2-3 drops onto the hand and distribute evenly through the hair. I did just that and here's my pros and cons.

Cost- It's only £1 I think which is really good considering you get 50ml!

Result- My hair does feel a lot softer after using this and looks a little bit healthier after only one use so I like that.

Smell- It doesn't smell like the other Argan products this brand do, like the shampoos and conditioners. It smells like a dodgy soap? The smell really clings to your hair and its actually starting to make me feel rather ill.

Bottle- The bottle is glass so isn't handy for travelling- that's not my issue with it though. It's got a screw on lid and that's it- in the instructions is says put 2-3 drops on so I was expecting a little pipette thing so I could actually get the right amount out, so I was disappointed I just had to guess what 2-3 drops is when it's just pouring out on my hand?

Result- It has left the ends of my hair looking disgustingly greasy- in fact it looks like I've gone down to the chip shop and dipped the ends in the deep fat fryer? Not impressed- My hair felt really heavy after using it too and looked rather limp and awful. At the same time I do wonder if I added too much product so that's the reason why it ended so horrifically but how am I supposed to get the right amount of product?

Have any of you tried the products by this brand, let me know what you thought down below!

mini superdrug haul

Saturday, 20 June 2015

So yesterday I popped into Superdrug for the usual cotton pads but got distracted (it was pay day okay?)

First think I picked up was this Superdrug  Brightening Hot Cloth Clanser, in a chat about a week ago people really raved about this, a few people said this is similar to the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser which I'm just dying to try!! I'd never heard of this product until the chat so I just had to pick it up, I'll let you know how I get on!

Next up is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, again this was a purchase that was very influenced by twitter... I can't remember who had a post but they said it was a pretty good dupe for the infamous Nars Creamy Concealer (I won't be able to compare as I haven't tried the other one boooo)

Lastly is the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights, I have been wanting this product for god knows however long, and today was my lucky day when I saw they had it in stock! I think this is a dupe for The Balms Mary Lou Manizer- it's so versatile I can use it for my face highlight, brow bone, inner corner brightener!

As I was writing this I realised they're all dupes for something which is pretty cool!

The No makeup makeup tutorial

Thursday, 18 June 2015

This is my version of a no-makeup-makeup look. I start by cleansing my skin with the Nivea micellar water, I then moisturise with Simple Light Moisturiser,

I then prime my skin with the Seventeen WOW Highlighting primer, this gives my skin that real natural glow. If I had less acne scarring and less redness I'd use a bb cream but I don't so I use my favourite summer foundation the Bourjois healthy mix gel serum which I've reviewed here. I only use half a pump but that's enough for my full face and gives me light coverage.

I fill my brows in with Anastasia Dip Brow in Blonde- I don't go for as much of a drawn on look for this look, I just brush them in the right direction with a spooly and fill in any sparse areas lightly. Then I curl my lashes with this primark eyelash curlers (best I've ever had) and my lashes curl really well it's just holding them- so I use my Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara, I only use perhaps 2 coats because I just want that curl to hold.

Then I lightly contour my cheek bones with my sleek contour kit to give my face a bit of depth- I don't want that fully reformed face I usually go for when contouring so I only do a little. I add a little of my Kiko blush to give a little colour.

For my lips I start off with just putting my Nivea lip balm, I can't deal with not having soft lips, then to add a tiny bit of colour and give that my lips but not my lips colour I use MAC Velvet Teddy.

And here's the final look! Hope you enjoy.

Cosmopolitan Summer Party

Tuesday, 16 June 2015

So on Saturday (13th June) Cosmo held their first ever summer party!! The lovely Courteney got tickets and invited me to be her plus 1! I was so excited as I'd read about the event and it looked amazing!

I met Courteney at Liverpool St (only because I accidentally booked my train for half an hour later than her.. oops) we then started our walk to the venue.. We did get a little lost (surprise surprise!) but in the end we managed to find a large queue of stylish looking women and discovered we were in the right place!

Once we got into the venue we were given these adorable little tokens for food, cocktails and prosecco.. We headed straight to the Prosecco bar (I ended up not liking mine and gave it to Court which she was happy about!)

After that we found our way into a line for Freya Lingerie/Swimwear- I'd never heard of them before but their collections are amazing! I got my boobs measured as it's been like 2 years since I last had them measured and you're supposed to get it done every 6 months(?!!!!!!!) One of the lovely ladies managed to guess what size I was just by looking at my boobs... damme what a job!

After this we went and watched Fleur De Force's chat on Summer Beauty,  it was such a good chat but went really quick- I was lucky enough to meet her after the talk but forgot to get a photo face palm but she is so incredibly nice and is just amazing!

There was so much to do there, we had a little photobooth session with Surf and a topless man (score) a little fast response game with Soft & Gentle, I was awful at it but Courteney was awesome!! Then there was cocktails on the tap from Zubrowka (bad idea for me to drink because I'm such a freaking lightweight haha) We then went and had a chat with Neev from Kiss FM who was DJ-ing- might I add she is bloody gorgeous! Literally I walked in and was like wow.. She was so lovely too we had a chat with her for ages!

After this we went and watched the fashion show- the models were bloody gorgeous and the clothes they were coming out in were beautiful! They then got Fleur on for her second chat which was more to do with blogging/vlogging and a second book (yes she's releasing another!!) I really enjoyed this chat as it was just so chilled yet really informative. Me and Courteney were a little peckish by this time so we went outside and got some WheyHey candyfloss and ice cream!!! Plus a pulled pork burger which tasted like heaven from Hot Box, mmmm... To finish up we had a browse at the Rimmel stand, I wanted to get my nails done but there was no more appointments left (booooo.. although I had left it a rather long time..) So we just played around in their photobooth!!

To end the evening Neev had a little KISSTORY session which was amazing, everyone was dancing and just having an amazing time. For the first Cosmo Party they did bloody amazing! I'm so excited to just hear if there's anymore in the future because I had such an amazing day!

We received these amazing goody bags at the end of the night, I'll do a full review of a few of the products in the coming weeks but a huge thank-you to all the brands who gave us items!

And here's a quick OOTD.. I know it was a Summer party and I wanted to be summery but it was so cold and rainy in Norwich when I left I had to cover up!
