March Haul

Sunday, 22 March 2015

I didn't really know what to call this because I've gotten things from a few places so it's not just a one place haul.. So it's my March Haul. I haven't actually bought myself anything since last year (can we all just take a moment) so I thought I deserved a (few) treats.

I've been needing this product for over a year now.. And I'm happy to say I finally have Anastasia DipBrow Pomade in Blonde in my hands, I am so freaking happy. After I'd ordered it I was slightly worried it was going to be too light but it's literally the perfect shade. I will be doing a full review once I've used it a couple times so keep an eye out for that. I ordered mine off of BeautyBay and it was £15 which is a really good price I think!!

To go with that I ordered a Zoeva 322 brow line brush. I have used it once and it's so easy to use and the small bristles mean I can really get life like hairs! It was off BeautyBay again and was £5.95 which again I think is stupidly cheap for the quality you get!

I've been lusting over Mia Moretti's MAC collection since it was released and I've finally managed to get hold of the lipstick (it's actually called Media)! In the pictures online it looks quite brown however its more purpley in real life- which I am happy about because I'm not sure I could of pulled off brown lips.. Its got a satin finish and like all MAC lipsticks it lasts forever so I'm highly impressed! Like the rest of the MAC lipsticks it was £15.50 so it isn't what I call cheap but for what you get it's so worth it!

Because I ordered off MAC I for some reason got a little mini sample of their studio fix foundation (which I have tried a few times before but I've never been a huge fan) but it's in literally a replica of the normal sized bottle! It's adorable! Hopefully it's a shade I can wear at some point because I would like to try it out again.  Also for the duration of March MAC have a discount code which gives you free next day delivery (normally £8!) with the code MACTREAT so be sure to try that!

I've wanted to try a beauty blender for god knows how long but I've always heard such mixed reviews and didn't want to fork out a huge amount and not like it- so I decided to pick up Real Techniques Complexion Perfection Sponge from superdrug which was £5.99. I am going to struggle to get used to it though I can feel it!

Lastly I picked up something else I've been wanting ever since I saw American youtubers with it! The new Maybelline Dream Flawless Fluid in the shade Ivory 10 for £8.99, it's only recently been released to the UK so I'm quite on the ball with this release compared to usual! I am really excited to use this a few more times and there will be a review so look out for it!!

Because of how many new products I got I decided to do a quick look with them all (I'm not going to go into detail on most products because they're going to have separate reviews) but here's the final look!! Oh and excuse the volcano on my forehead!

Eyeshadow- Makeup Revolution, Mascara- Benefit Roller Lash, Blush- Kiko, Bronzer- Sleek Contour palette.

Backstage at Norwich Fashion Week's Designers show

Friday, 13 March 2015

As part of my college course I was lucky enough to be a dresser at the designer show as well as having my garment walk the runway. We had to arrive bright and early at Epic Studios to help organise the rooms and other garments from the other designers.

All of Cocoons garments (City College's label) were taken down by a couple of our technicians and one of my tutors and set up in the allocated rooms- there were 3 rooms with rails rammed with garments for each of the models.

I was in room 1 which luckily for me was the biggest of the 3 rooms (although that still wasn't very big considering there was 4 rails of clothes, 8 models, 8 dressers and occasionally 4 designers in the room) all of the models were really lovely and we all got on really well which was nice. Whilst the models were in hair and makeup us dressers got to work and organised which clothes should be on who's models rail etc and made sure everything was ready for the run through we were going to do.

The first run through went quite well I think- I don't think us dressers realised just how quick we had to get the models in and out of the clothes, but we managed it. After the run through we had a short break and just chilled out for a little while. Before we got ourselves ready for the first show of the day everyone was piled into the main area where we were debriefed on what went well and what we could improve on from the run through, luckily for the dressers we apparently did quite a good job so we didn't have much to worry about.

Then it was time for the first show of the day, I was pretty nervous because my dress that I had made hadn't actually been on my model yet because it didn't fit- I then had the brainwave to turn it into a skirt and cut slits up the sides of the legs and then we figured it would then fit my model as a dress so I was quite happy about that.

The first show went really well actually because everything was so fast I didn't have time to panic or stress that something wasn't working so that was good. My dress apparently looked really good on the runway according to my nanny and auntie (they're probably rather biased)

There were some amazing designers there I was obsessed with Jo Randalls collection, she basically made these dresses out of a hot glue gun then painted them the colours of the rainbow! If you really looked at them you could see different animals on them. I also really liked Hannah Smiths collection (she is from my course so I am slightly biased) every piece was really different and they all looked amazing, I love it.

The evening show was amazing, the atmosphere was unreal, it was so professional and you would of thought we'd all be complete stress heads but we were all calm and collected,  getting the models in and out of the door as fast as we could, but overall we managed it pretty well.

I think we did amazingly considering it was pretty much all of the dressers first time being in that environment, I had an amazing time being part of it and it was so nice to see how the backstage of a fashion show actually works and it was good how professional it was giving us a real experience. The other designers garments were insane and it was nice to see everything even if it was just as the models were lining up to go out. If you're from Norwich or the Norfolk area and didn't go to any of the Norwich Fashion Week this year I highly recommenced going next year, it is so amazing to see and if you ever get the chance to be part of a fashion show in any shape or form I honestly think you should do it, such an amazing experience.

February in photos

Sunday, 1 March 2015

So I felt it was kinda necessary for me to do a Feb in photos post seeing as my February was pretty hectic

The first 3 photos are from a L'oreal photoshoot I was the makeup artist for with one of my local salons- it was so much fun (despite me being so scared before it.)

As many of you will know by now I visited Italy which I have documented all the days of on my blog so if you want to read what I got up to have a look here- Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4.

It was obviously Valentines day in February and this was my first ever year with a boyfriend so it was really nice. We had a chilled day then went to Zaks for dinner (their nachos are on point!) then we went to see 50 Shades Of Grey (I loved it) and overall just had a really nice day! I really liked my makeup! Gutted I didn't do a blogpost on it!

The day after Valentines day I had my first Cheerleading competition of the season which was a really fun but stressful day! We went to Birmingham LG Arena and all 4 teams performed amazing routines- the 2 that I'm on placed 3rd and 8th which I'm really proud of for a first competition! It definitely helped get the nerves out of the system ready for nationals!

I spent this last Wednesday morning doing a bridal makeup trial for a lovely bride for her wedding in March and I'm really pleased with how it turned out! I'm excited for her big day now. I then did the usual college day then went round my friends house for tea and a catch up and there ended up being a big group of us!

So my February was pretty busy, what did you get up to?
