October Favourites 2014

Friday, 31 October 2014

This month has been one of the best, and I couldn't seem to narrow my favourites down to a reasonable amount, so you'll all just have to deal with a lot of photos in today's post!

I received this lovely gift set for my birthday and have been wearing Royal Revolution non-stop since then. I just love showering with the body wash, then moisturising with the moisturiser then covering my body in the actual perfume- I just smell amazing all day!

My mum bought me this Pandora charm bracelet and angel wing charm for my birthday. I'd never really steered towards Pandora for some reason, I think I just had in my head they only had the silver bracelets- which just aren't my style so when I found this one online I just had to have it and I was lucky enough to actually get it! The only time it leaves my wrist is when I'm sleeping or showering and that's saying something!
I actually only bought this very recently, but I have written a review for it so check that out Product Review: St Moriz Fake Tan.

I received this goody from my Paul Mitchell Goodie bag and I'm in love! I don't usually use these type of products because I never think they work, but this one actually does! There will be a full review coming soon so keep your eyes peeled!!

Again there will be a full review on this very soon, but this is now my holy grail foundation, I honestly don't think I could ever go back to anything else. Best foundation ever.

I have written a review on these brushes over on The Blossom Carts blog so be sure to check my post and her blog out!! I think I'm just going to use Complexion  Perfection forever now!!

My sister got me this gorgeous coat from Primark for my birthday and I literally have not gone one day wearing it where someone doesn't comment on how amazing it is!! I'd been lusting after it for a while and then voila I opened it on my birthday- I couldn't of been happier!! These shoes where sent down by Gods. They're from Tesco F&F (seriously!!) and I picked them out as a birthday present from my nanny and they again have not left my feet. I am in love with the gold hardware. They're just so bloody beautiful!!

We all know how much I love this cleansing water- my favourite product to use to remove makeup and any other grime left on my skin and probably always will be.

Now that its getting colder and windy I always keep a lipbalm close by because you never know when you're going to need it. And my current favourite is this Palmer's cocoa butter one, it smells and tastes amazing and actually repairs my lips! I love it!

I've written about this product before (in one of my first ever posts so beware!) but its my favourite drugstore Autumnal lipstick, I'm so happy its acceptable to wear this again!!
I've all of a sudden fallen in love with candles. I've been burning these two non-stop throughout October and their combined smells are amazing! My room smells gorgeous 24/7 now!

I hate having dry skin anywhere, especially in autumn and this moisturise literally works magic on my skin! I always feel so bloody smooth after smothering this in!

Being a blondie I have to look after my locks (I'm not very good at it) and the most I do on a regular basis is wash my hair with blonde shampoo so I guess its good? But I love how these products leave my hair feeling/smelling (smell more than anything)

Hope you all enjoyed this months favourites! What things have you guys been loving this month? Have I inspired any of you to buy any new products? Let me know in the comments below!!xo

Product Review: St Moriz Fake Tan

Tuesday, 28 October 2014

So now that Winter is pretty much upon us I decided to brave buying and using fake tan. For some reason I have never actually used instant self tan, I mean I've used gradual tan (mainly because I thought it wouldn't do anything) and had more spray tans than a girl could need. But I decided to finally do the cheaper thing and actually get the tan and do it myself.

Literally all of my friends use St Moriz and they all always look flawlessly bronzed, so it was an obvious choice for me. And the fact it was only £4.99 made it even more of an easy choice. I chose to get it in mousse form because I'd read reviews and the mousse seemed to be the best one overall and because its mousse form it doesn't drip down my body, so it makes applying it 1000 times easier. Even though usually I am as pale as Casper the ghost I went straight in for the dark shade. This is mainly because when I usually get spray tans its for cheerleading so we all like to be very very tanned, so I knew if I went with a lighter shade I just wouldn't be happy.

Application is so easy, literally a few pumps onto your mitt and circular motions til it's even and voila!! The thing that I love about this product is that even thought its ridiculously cheap it does the job so well. I haven't got any streaks or patches on my skin and I've had this on for 3 days now (and I've been bad and haven't moisturised oopsie daisy!) but it honestly is amazing!! It is perfect for anyone who is new to tanning because it is just so hard to actually mess up!

The thing that I love about this product is that there isn't really much of a developing or drying time. On Saturday I applied my first layer at about 12, and was already finished applying, dressed and out by 1pm, The product is fully developed by the 4-6 hour mark,  but you get colour instantly so its so easy to see if you've missed any areas.

I will be posting my full fake tanning routine very soon so keep your eyes peeled!!

First time tag

Thursday, 23 October 2014

So I've seen this tag floating around on youtube for some while now and I thought I'd have a go at it, I've taken/altered a couple of the questions to fit in with blogging. I would like to tag anyone who reads this!

First tweet?

This is so embarrassing haha, why I thought it was okay to add '<3' to the end of things I honestly don't know!!

First blog post?
Its actually pretty recent (21st May 2014) and its just me saying hello? And if anyone had any advice haha! I think I should of gone straight in and actually posted content but still! If you want to read it it's here

First person you followed on Bloglovin?
The first person I followed on Bloglovin is the wonderful Tanya Burr

First Facebook profile picture?

This photo was uploaded in 2010 so I was 13 nearly 14- I definitely had facebook way before that so I must of deleted photos due to pure embarrassment which is annoying now because I would love to have a look! It's a photo of me, my sister and our friends at a really nice river near our house we go to literally every summer, we swim there and all sorts. From what I can remember we had like a mini photoshoot that day in that area.. how hilarious.

Do you still talk to your first love?
Yes occasionally.. moving swiftly on.

What was your first alcoholic drink?
It was probably a WKD, I most likely had sips of my mums wine or vodka and coke or whatever at certain points, but I probably had a full bottle of WKD to myself.

What was your first job?
Waitress for events at a Holiday Inn and I'm still there, I've been there for about 3 months now. I know I was so late on getting my first job its ridiclious, but now I have 2 (I work in a nightclub in my city too- which I much prefer to working at the holiday inn haha)

What was your first car?
I don't have a car (or even a provisional) and I probably won't for a few years yet.. damme you epilepsy.

Who was the first person to text you today?
If I go with actually passed midnight it was my boyfriend (I was moaning about work to him and he was laughing)

Who is the first person you thought of this morning?
My boyfriend I guess, I literally can't remember, I was still so tired so I probably thought of food or more sleep (food is more likely)

Who was your first grade teacher?
I'm pretty sure I had 2 and their names were Mrs Carslile and Mrs Millwood (I could be completely wrong as I went to so many schools at that time in my life so I don't really know for sure)

Where did you go on your first ride on an aeroplane?
Paris for the weekend when I was 13 which was pretty fun (Disney Land always is)

Who was your first best friend & do you still talk?
A girl called Georgia- we occasionally talk, but I moved schools so it's hard.

Where was your first sleep over?
Probably at my friend Georgia's house, I really can't remember.

What was the first thing you did this morning?
Checked my phone for the time to see if it was appropriate to wake up yet- I didn't get in from work until 5am so I needed to make sure it was past midday haha.

What was the first concert you ever went to?
Katy Perry on her California Dreams tour on 12th October 2011. I've been addicted since.

First broken bone?
I broke my jaw in June 2013 when I had a seizure in the street. It was painful and just really horrible in general.

First piercing?
Earlobes when I was like 4, I was really young, I'm pretty sure my mum was getting her nose re-pierced and I wanted my ears done so she let me have them done.

First foreign country you visited?
France, when I was 5 I went to Disney Land Paris for the first time (I still remember parts of it 13 years later)

First movie you remember seeing?
If it was in a cinema I feel like it was Finding Nemo, but if it was at home I'm pretty sure it was Peter Pan or Sleeping Beauty (My favourite films)

When was your first detention?
I was absolutley gutted because I got half way through my last year of high school and got given one for having attitude with my teacher because she wasn't teaching us anything and our GCSE's were right around the corner.

Who was your first roommate?
I guess my twin sister maybe counts.

What was the first sport you were involved in?
Dance I think- I've been involved with dance since I was like 4 years old (and I still can't dance)

What is the first thing you do when you get home?
It has to be get food, I'm most likely always hungry so I always go straight to the kitchen.

When was your first kiss?
First proper one was when I was like 13 and to a little boyfriend I had at the time.

Guest Post: Fall Fashion Week Beauty Trends

Thursday, 23 October 2014

Thanks to Justine, I (Jessica Anna at A So Called Beauty Blog) have the fantastic opportunity to write a post for her wonderful blog. I'm a huge fan of fashion shows and anything to do with the runway, so as you can imagine the beauty trends that were showcased this year, were definitely on my radar. Today, I'm going to share the top 5 beauty trends of fall from this seasons spectacular fashion shows. Enjoy!

5. Metallic/Shimmery Eyes

Paying homage to our childhoods when we painted our eye lids with the most outrageous shimmery or metallic eye shadows (we've all been there), this season has showcased some paired down, rather chic versions of a slight shimmer or metallic eye. It was a tremendous trend this year and really helped to complete the looks of all the collections it was used in.

4. Extra-Long Lashes

Otherwise known as spider lashes or the 'twiggy eye', a vivacious trend this season saw many models with extra long lashes as the centrepiece of their make-up looks. It was a definite hit at shows like Rochas, where the collection really suited the cute, bold eye created by those super long lashes.

3. The Smokey Eye

A trend that takes all collections to the next level and adds a definitive intensity to any look is most certainly the smokey eye. It's been around for a long time, it just dips in and out of fashion, but I can safely say it's a very prominent trend right now and was key to the impact of Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang's amazing shows.

2. Dewy, Natural Skin
Flesh tones were very popular this season among designers who definitely felt their collections could do well with a toned down, almost non-existent make-up look. Givenchy and Giambatti Valli were partakers in the trend, and Marc Jacobs took his to the next level with no-make up at all. It's very clear that dewy, natural looking skin was a real hit on the runways. I for one am a big fan of flesh tones and natural looks, as they're light, care free and always chic.

1. The infamous Red Lip
Vogue have described it as the return of the red lip, and this infamous trend, sported by the likes of Marilyn Monroe, was indeed back on the runways and red carpets this season. Back in a big way. Anna Sui, Zac Posen and many others implemented the red lip to brighten up and add sophistication to their ladies. It did just that and so much more; it was utterly beautiful and marvellous to see again.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about these fabulous Fall trends straight from the runways in New York, Paris, Milan and London. I've certainly enjoyed sharing them with you and would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below and on my blog. Thanks to Justine for allowing me to do this and I hope to hear from some of you soon!

Paul Mitchell: The Gift of Style Blogger Event

Monday, 20 October 2014

So on Thursday (16th October) I attended the Paul Mitchell: Gift of Style event. I have to say when I first got the invitation I was very very nervous, this was my first event, I didn't know what to expect from the event itself or the people going, I had no clue if it was going to be a more intimate event or a huge one with loads of bloggers who knew eachother and were all chatting away happily. Me and my new blogging bff Siobhan from Unexpected Geek who was also going into this event with no idea of what to expect decided we would go together to help get rid of both of our nerves and so we could get to know each other beforehand.

When we arrived at Dunston Hall I already knew what to expect from the actual buiilding itself as I've been here quite a lot, but it does never fail to amaze me how beautiful the outside and inside is.

Once we found the lovely host Sarah in the bar we were quickly greeted with this massive plate of nibblys which I was in awe of (I just love food... so bloody much!) and offered cocktails, I'm abit of a cocktail newb and just went with what I'd had before which was the amazing Sex on the beach, I only had one as I unfortunately had work later that night, but oh my it tasted heavenly!

Sarah then started to introduce the company to us, tell us about the products and I normally switch off when people start to talk for a long period of time (sorry!!) but I was fascinated by what she was saying! I'd obviously heard of the brand and used products but I never really had a look at the company and was so incredibly happy to find out they are completely animal cruelty free! Sarah was saying that they have a sheep farm in New Zealand for sheep's wool for their keratin products and how they have a person fly over there randomly to check that the sheep are fine and being treated right- which I love!

This year Paul Mitchell had the amazing Sarah Hankison design their packaging, she is an Australian fashion illustrator who has worked with many big names including Vogue! I was literally so obsessed with the packaging- I so need one of the bags to keep my travel essentials with me!

Paul Mitchell has come up with the perfect gift for men- thickening hair products and socks! What more could a guy want!! I love these sets, they are so perfect for little gifts to give to men!

Their lemon sage thickening shampoo and conditioner and lemon candle were literally my favourite products there. I think its the smell! I was sat with the candle against my nose for most of the night haha! And luckily I found both these products in my goodie bag, I was more than excited!

There are so many products I wanted to try there and then! I have to say Paul Mitchell are excelling themselves with the wide range of products available. There are some blonde products I'm hoping to try very soon so keep an eye out for a post about that!

Along with haircare Paul Mitchell have now released a cosmetics brand called New CID they also have some amazing products- I have fallen head over heels in love with an eyeshadow palette that I've decided I just need to have (how surprising) but in our goody bags we did receive a product called i-smoulder which has a Kohl liner on one end and a smudger with eyeshadow coming out on the other- I am very excited to try this product!!

As we left Sarah was so kind to give us this goodie bag which was completely packed with full sized products! I will be doing a small haul/review on all of those products in the near future so do look out!!

Obviously the best part of the event was meeting these two amazing local bloggers Courtney over at Courtypeach in the polka dots, Hannah from Hannahmariebeauty and obviously Siobhan from unexpectedgeek. It was so nice to actually meet fellow bloggers from my area, they were all so lovely and we've all got so much in common aside from blogging (me and Hannah even have a few mutual friends, which is weird, then I remind myself I'm in Norwich and everyone knows everyone

Overall I had the most amazing time ever! For this being my first event I was so beyond happy with how it went, it was just so relaxed and nice to just chill and chat to Sarah and the other girls about the products and our interests and to just make new friends!!
